Help! Find the Lodger a Home

Donation protected
Hello! I am Dora Colquhoun writer and performer based in Liverpool. I have created The Lodger an exciting new work about home. In this show you meet Deer a character that is 'Hidden Homeless' someone who has no fixed address and spends her time travelling from place to place without any sense of stability. Through Deer's eyes you meet a variety of eccentric characters also trying to find their way home including a Sunday school teacher, holiday entertainer and a landlady
The show contains original music, storytelling, comedy and physical theatre
I am fundraising £3000 to support the development of The Lodger.
This money will go towards match funding towards an Arts Council Bid.

This project will go towards touring the show to 5 venues, employing 9 freelance artists and support two funded workshops.

Why is this important?

Unfortunately there is a huge decline of working class artists in the arts due to this very difficult climate, only 11 percent of people in the arts are from working class backgrounds. The majority of stories that monopolise arts and culture are from people who can afford to tell them.

I believe this story needs to be told.
This story is from the perspective of a character experiencing home instability and pushing through those challenges to keep on going.
The Lodger has a message of hope.
The heart of this show is about survival, about reclaiming back a path that was laid out before you were born
It is also a really good, entertaining show!
Heres what people have said so far.....

A raw, funny show full of life! A must see! Amazing.

An emotional rollercoaster about the human experience

I will be humming the catchy tunes, so much to relate too. I loved the ending. An incredible talent.

I loved the honesty and humour and music throughout. I love that you tackled dark topics but ended the show with lightness and Joy.

I learnt home is inside you and hard things pass if you learn to let go.

You kept us dreaming, I will be thinking about the rocks in my life after the show and how to let go. Thank you for a beautiful experience.

Now theres no such thing as a free lunch! So for every single person who donates over £10 I will send you a link of 5 original mastered songs created for the show.
Including
Dance in the Light
Here comes the rain
Holding up the sky
Carbon copies of Love
I dreamed it all

So basically an album.
