Help Finella Raise Money For Her New Short Film

Hello Everyone! 

 

My name is Finella Waddilove and I am an actor/writer/filmmaker. Recently, Helena Westerman and I completed our first film ‘Smooth Ride’ and we’ve been absolutely thrilled to see it win multiple awards including 'Best Comedy Short' at Los Angeles Indi Short Fest, Los Angeles IndieX Film Fest and Cult Movies International Film Festival, plus gaining 'Official Selection' laurels from nine other festivals including the London Independent Film Festival, where the film screened at East London’s Genesis Cinema in April. 

 

This amazing reception inspired me to pursue my passion for filmmaking and story telling further. So, I have now written a new comedy ‘How Long Have We Got Left?’ as my next short film.

 

Once again, I will be working with a young and extremely talented crew and cast of actors but having used my savings on Smooth Ride, I am kindly asking for help towards the film’s projected costs of £1900 which will support the actors, director of photography, gaffer, focus puller, sound recordist, assistant director, production design, props, food and transport.

 

SYNOPSIS

 

'How Long Have We Got Left' finds two twenty-something part-time waitresses/actors, filled with anxiety just minutes before their catering shift is about to begin.

However, their prediction of yet another monotonous few hours proves wide of the mark as their desperate attempts to cope with a serious uniform faux pas, a somewhat peculiar chef and a ticking clock, rapidly leads to one of the most bizarre nights of their lives.  

 

‘How Long Have We Got Left?’: THE ORIGIN

 

I think we’ve all asked that question at work before - longing for the day to end, the addiction to looking at the clock!

Being flung from the joyous bubble of drama school in 2018 (LAMDA, Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts) into the world of teaching, kids parties, baby-sitting, barista-ing, and catering, wasn’t the easiest of transitions but I was determined not to let the creativity that fuels my soul, resemble the wilting rose from ‘Beauty and the Beast’.

 

These jobs allowed me to meet a plethora of different ‘characters’, and to quote Boromir, Lord of the Rings, “it [was] a gift”. Observing people’s behaviour, and discovering the humour in my day-to-day, was the perfect survival tactic.

 

I started writing, ‘How Long Have We Got Left?’ two years ago during a particularly flat period. This world gave me a creative purpose and really helped cheer me up.

 

From the jobs listed above, catering birthed the most farcical experiences. Up-scale events meant high expectations and even higher stakes: the perfect breeding ground for comedy, deadly for my dyspraxia. Injecting memories of clumsy disaster and intense superiors, proved to be a very cathartic experience!

After chipping away at my script for the past six months, ‘How Long Have We Got Left?’ is now ready to rumble! 

 

I am absolutely bursting with excitement and passion for this project and would be immensely thankful for any help you can give to make it happen.
