Help Finish Our Community Free Food Program!

Who We Are:
We're NomSense, a Black-owned, Felon-owned, and Woman-owned food truck operating in Western North Carolina. For the last 3 years we've been running our food truck as a payment-optional business, with the goal of feeding anyone who needs to eat regardless of their ability to pay.

If you're hungry, you can eat. Whatever you want to order, you can have. We leaned on community, and community came through. We routinely raise more in donations than we give out in food, even though we've cooked more than 2,000 free meals. We expanded this idea first into distributing supplies to help folks who don't have a place to live.

Why We're Asking For Help:
Now, we're expanding into a community kitchen. We leased a building, and we raised more than 60 thousand dollars thanks to our incredibly generous community. That paid for a huge plumbing project, the installation of an exhaust hood system, and a full refit of an old vape shop into a full-scale commercial cooking space that will feed anyone in need of food, whether they can pay or not.

But this our first commercial building project, and we thought we had everything covered. Famous last words.
Due to cost overruns and code requirements and *gestures broadly at the general chaos of Western North Carolina municipal requirements*, we need a little help getting across that finish line.

How your donation will be spent:
We need to purchase refrigeration and cooking equipment, so we can do the work of feeding the hungry. We need to meet some cosmetic requirements so the zoning inspector lets us open. And we need your help.
Your donation in any amount will help take us over the finish line. We'll be serving meals to food-insecure folks the first day our doors open.

Our motto is this: "If I do not stop and help this man, what will happen to him?"
Dr Martin Luther King Jr spoke those words during his final speech, reminding us to not ask what will happen to us if we help the next person but rather asking what will happen to that person if we do not help them.
We want to help, and we need ya'lls help to do it.
Thank you, from the bottom of our hearts.
