Help Firefighter's Family recover from House Fire

Donation protected
Hello friends and colleagues. I am writing this message in order to again ask for your help. As many of you may know, my family and I have been struggling for the past couple of years to recover from this fire incident.

Though we made a large dent at the beginning of this fundraiser, the goal was never quite met. We do appreciate everything that was donated, and all the support that was given. You have been so gracious to my family. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

So with the advice of my peers and support of my family, I humbly ask again that you look into your heart and try to give us some support while we look for the means to afford to get into a permanent home. As many of you may know, housing prices have gone up as well as rent, and we have not fully recovered financially. It would be very helpful if anyone was able to help us in any way while we continue to struggle to move forward on the search for housing.
Thank you again, and God bless you all.

Hi, I am Firefighter Terron Harris, I am making this because of a tragic accident that happened over a month ago that has changed my families lives. We had a very unfortunate house fire resulting in our home being destroyed. No one was seriously injured, only a minor burn to report. We lost family heirlooms, clothes, photo albums, jewelry, and many other material possessions. There were few things that were salvageable, but we managed to collect a few sentimental items. We count ourselves very fortunate to have "walked away" without casualty.

I am writing this because as a Firefighter, I have remained "strong" and prideful. I have held my head up and kept my words few. I have stayed positive and upbeat for my family and friends. But, I have also reflected on the "irony" of a Firefighter's house burning down and the fact that a man who is suppose to help during a fire - is now the one who needs help.

I have spent this time after our tragedy navigating the help my friends and colleagues have generously given. Optimistically accepting whatever could be spared and thanking everyone for their time and support, all while trying not to ask for financial support, hoping that I could take this immediate help and bounce back.

However, I feel I have done my family a disservice by remaining prideful and taking us to the edge of poverty and debt. All in the effort to seem "fine". And remain a "strong man" who can take care of his family on his own. But that is a selfish thought that has hindered us instead of help us. I am very sorry that I allowed pride to affect my decision making in our most serious time of need.

A house fire is a heavy burden. Financially devastating in an instant. It takes SO much to recover properly. And even more to maintain a semblance of safety and certainty. We are overwhelmed. And I need to ask for help.

Please, if you can, help my family. All I ask is that you share this and consider giving a donation, if possible. The proceeds of this GoFundMe will be used to help mitigate the expenses we have had to take on including Shelter, Food, Utilities, Loans, replacing clothes, furniture and appliances and various intangibles that will help my children and wife get their lives back on track.

We are starting from scratch, with few resources and it may take up to a year or more until we have a permanent home again. Thank you for reading this, and thank you for your consideration, I appreciate everyone’s support during this time.
