Our bathroom nightmare! (And how you can help!)

Hi everyone,

My name is Bex, and I'm a single mom working two jobs to provide for my amazing son Felix. We always try to make the best of everything that comes our way, but lately, we've been hit with a series of unexpected and overwhelming challenges.

Our little bathroom has become a disaster zone. What started as a small leak has spiraled into a full-blown renovation project. The tub had a gaping hole next to the drain, the floor was severely water damaged from a leaky toilet (that wasn't even properly attached), and, to top it all off, some well-meaning but ultimately disastrous prior “repairs” left the floor joists in a dangerous state. The only solution was a complete overhaul – everything needed to be ripped out and replaced.

As if that wasn't enough, November and December were incredibly tough. My son and I both suffered from severe respiratory illnesses, requiring me to take several weeks of unpaid leave from work to care for him and myself. This loss of income has significantly impacted my finances, making it almost impossible to cover basic necessities, let alone a major bathroom renovation. To add another layer of difficulty, my ex has been struggling to find work for the past eight months and hasn't been able to provide any child or spousal support during this time.

Despite these setbacks, I'm determined to create a safe and healthy home for my son. I've already received a little over $900 in incredibly generous donations, which have been used to purchase essential building materials, tools, and to hire a licensed electrician. I'm so grateful for that initial support!

My amazing family has stepped up in a huge way, offering their time and skills to keep the costs of this project as low as possible. Their help has been invaluable, and I'm extremely thankful for their support.

Now, I'm reaching out to you for help to finish what we've started. Every single dollar donated to this GoFundMe will go directly towards the remaining construction materials (like the tub, toilet, and vanity), waste removal, and other essential supplies needed to complete the bathroom renovation.
