Help Fix Stray Cat Colony Taking Over My Porch

Hello! My name is Melissa, and I have a very big soft spot in my heart for cats. When I moved to Fruita just over a year ago, I saw a couple ferals running around, so I set out a small bowl of food when it got cold, and it quickly snowballed into a rather large ginger family taking over my porch and street. While we love taking care of and naming each and every one of these kitties, they just keep multiplying, and I’m afraid their family lines are getting rather…confused, to say the least. At this point we have about 10 cats and kittens that visit on a daily basis.

So I need to get them fixed. I know it will be a long process. I have received vouchers to help, but the only place in town that will fix them at the base price of the voucher is a half hours drive, booked out over a month and only open a handful of hours, two days a week.

I can use the monetary value of the voucher (just under $100) to put toward the vet of my choice. After calling around to compare prices, my local vet seems to be on par with other vets.

I would like to get each cat fixed and vaccinated for rabies, while the youngest set of kittens all have conjunctivitis, so also need to be treated for this. Again, long process of trapping and treating, but I’m in it to win it! I’ve got two snuggled together in a kennel in my garage ready to get started.

I am estimating needing about $100-150 per cat to supplement the vouchers. If you are an animal lover, or looking to support a decent cause, I would welcome the help. I’m happy to provide pictures, names and updates as we go along!
