Fund Fleece Kawasaki's Debut Album and Tour

Hi, I’m Kiazi, I’m a singer-songwriter from Brooklyn NY, and you might know me from being a musician/bandleader/busker in Los Angeles or most recently from touring with Arcadia Grey and glass beach. I’ve been here for the last six years and busking has been an integral part of my life where through just performing my music I’ve met some of my favorite people, many artists and talented friends, and even some heroes that I admire like Flea, Justin Warfield, and Matt Bellamy. All of these various signs to me have been like branches in the water telling me that I should really aspire for the next step, and with your help I can get there! I have an album that I’ve been working on all these years, entitled Fake Frowns From Happy People, it's been on the back-burner while other dreams of mine have slowly come true. Initially it was because I didn't feel ready to bring them to life in the quality that they deserved, but I spent years improving as an arranger and singer and performer, before running into the next big hurdle: money. To be frank, making music is an insanely costly endeavor, I have so many talented musicians I want to bring along to perform on it to do things I cannot, things like synths, strings, brass, harp, choir vocals, I sing, and write and arrange these awesome songs, but to bring them to life further I need more. I need you! Releasing a record (that you intend to succeed) entails things like packaging the release: having good branding/artwork, cohesive marketing, dope music videos, etc... As an indie artist I'm competing with labels with infinite budgets and as such will require a tremendous hand to stay viable.

Why are you crowdfunding this release?

I believe in the power of grassroots efforts. I’ve been busking for the last seven years, and it more than anything has changed my life. I’ve watched this thing grow from songs that I wrote in my bedroom back home in NY, and playing covers on the LA Metro, to it becoming a band and getting to play my songs at some of the biggest venues in LA, and being featured on KROQ and KCRW all while remaining entirely independent. With your financial backing I can stay a DIY operation while managing to be viable in the current musical landscape.

Where Will the money go?

The money will be used first to finish the album and pay all the performers and artists involved in its completion - while I am an exceedingly talented guy there are many instruments that I do not play, nor am I a producer or visual artist. I want to invest in every facet of this release so that it is nothing short of a resounding success, which means on top of the costs of recording the album and getting it mixed and mastered I also intend to invest in personalized artwork, stylized music videos, awesome merch designs, a good marketing campaign/press, and touring this release.
