TEAM CHASE - The Battle Continues

Hey friends and family of Chase Donnelly - I am Chase Donnelly’s proud father, Jeff. About a month ago, we received the devastating news that Chase’s months long, excruciating back pain was caused by a tumor on his spine. After three weeks of testing, MRIs, CAT scans, ultrasounds, and biopsies in the hospital, we learned that the tumor on his spine is not the main concern of the oncology team. That tumor can be blasted through radiation. Their concern is the tumor around his heart - it’s called Angiosarcoma. A very rare cancer that strikes one in a million people in the USA - most of those are over 70 years old. For those of you wondering, “What are the odds?,” now you know.

 

The oncology team said that they can treat Chase here in Honolulu (Chase and his wife Danae’s home for the past year has been on the Big Island), there may better options back in Minnesota. Equally important in the treatment process is for Chase to have a strong support team close by his side long term. That clearly would be back in Minnesota. 

 

We are all so thankful that Chase and Danae have health insurance (there is a great “God story” that we can share regarding that at some point). The problem is that it appears that this flight home won’t be covered by insurance. 

 

On top of the extensive medical

costs, there are Team Chase expenses (Danae, Anita, our daughter, Nicole and I) have all been away from home for nearly a month now and will be for the foreseeable future. We are here for Chase for the long haul. In Hawaii, those expenses are mounting quickly.

 

One way or another, we are going to get Chase home. But the first step is to seek some financial support through GoFundMe by reaching out to our friends and family. Hopefully each of them can reach out to their friends and family to to help us to help fly Chase home to Minnesota. And so on. I am confident together we will be able to get Chase back to Minnesota.
