Help for Armando Anaya Hernández
Donation protected

Armando Anaya Hernández is a great archaeologist from Campeche, Mexico and an even greater friend of ours. He has worked at many archaeological sites in Mexico and taught archaeology in Canada, Australia, and Mexico and is well known in the Mayanist and archaeological communities. This past July he contracted a very bad fungal infection in his respiratory system from his work during an archaeological field season in southern Campeche. He has been in the hospital in Campeche City for a month now but unfortunately the illness has spread and the doctors in Campeche can not provide him the surgery and medical attention he will need to beat this. He needs to be moved to another hospital in Mexico City but, as with far too many medical bureaucracies, this is taking too long and, in the meanwhile, Armando's condition only worsens. We are asking for donations on behalf of Armando and his wife Yanira not only to hopefully help us contract a faster means of getting him to the better hospital in Mexico City but also to help them with the enormous financial burdens this has imposed on their family. Any donations are deeply appreciated. Dr. Kathryn Reese-Taylor, a colleague from the University of Calgary and with whom Armando works at the archaeological site of Yaxnohcah in southern Campeche, Mexico, is assisting in this campaign and will help to disburse the money to Armando and Yanira in Mexico. Thank you very much.
