Becky, Shane and Sammy Keil
Donation protected
On February 26th 2017 Samuel Paul Keil came into the world with a bit of a struggle.
His first trip to Sick Kids came within 12 hours of being born. Sammy was born without his large intestine functioning. This required surgery to create a stoma and now has an ileostomy bag for output. For the next year he was in and out of the hospital as he could not seem to keep his food down and was losing weight. In April it became so severe that he was flown to Sick Kids and he is still there. During this period he has endured several more surgeries that created some complications they are dealing with. There is hope and light, but the end of the tunnel is a long way off.
You can imagine the hardship this has had on Becky and Shane emotionally, physically and financially. Some things we can help with. We can be there for them emotionally by offering kind words and prayers. We can be there for them physically by offering to sit with Sammy while they go and grab a bite to eat or do some laundry or mow their lawn or send some food. We can also help, if possible, financially. Becky is not able to return to her job as she is being trained on medical procedures she will need to do in order for Sammy to be able to come home. Shane has had to keep working so he travels to Toronto several times a week to be with Sammy. Ronald McDonald House has been a god-send but still costs $450 per month on top of travel, parking, food, etc. As these costs add up and Becky not being able to go back to work, I am hoping we can come together to take a worry they don’t need right now, off of their plate. Thank you so much for your love and support!
