Help for Beirut Disaster
Donation protected
As a group of young Lebanese individuals, we are asking for your help in light of the massive explosion that happened August 4, 2020 in Beirut, Lebanon. The results of this massive explosion were devastating: injuries were widespread among thousands (more than 5,000 people were injured), and already far-stretched hospitals were forced to turn many away, given they were also impacted by the explosion itself and also near capacity due to coronavirus patients. Further, more than 300,000 people have been displaced from their homes. These are just the headlines; being from Lebanon, the devastating stories from loved ones are endless.
This hit deeply for all around the world and gives a strong urge to do as much as possible, as our contributions are needed now more than ever. With complete transparency, we will be sending all proceeds to trustworthy, politically/religiously independent, Lebanese NGOs. Prior to reaching the $20k mark, all proceeds are going to an NGO called Offre-Joie. This NGO is currently working within Lebanon to help victims by starting rehabilitation sites and helping people rebuild their houses. The remaining funds will be divided amongst other NGOs in Lebanon, 20% of which will be transferred directly to smaller initiatives around Beirut. A donation amount of $35 can feed a family of 3 adults and 1 child for two weeks, that's the initiative that the NGO Beit El Baraka is focusing on. The third NGO we plan to allocate funds to is the Lebanese FoodBank-not only will funds be able to assist with food parcels to families without access to food but it will also help feed the thousands of citizens cleaning rubble and debris in the streets.
We predict that it’ll be at a minimum a multi-month project, due to the extent of destruction in Lebanon from this unfortunate event.
Please consider supporting Lebanon during these times. Needless to say, we need all the help we can get.
Your help is infinitely appreciated.
