Help for Braydon and Melanie: In Memory of Jason Welch

Donation protected
My name is Kirstin Zandt, and I have created this GoFundMe on behalf of my dear friend Melanie Cooper and her son, Braydon Welch, to support them after the sudden and heartbreaking loss of their beloved husband and father, Jason Welch.

This unexpected tragedy has placed a tremendous burden on their family. Braydon, an airman currently serving in the United States Air Force, is carrying the heavy weight of burying his father at just 20 years old. Melanie, a cherished employee at JPS Hospital, dedicates her life to supporting those struggling with mental health challenges. She is a beacon of hope and compassion, always there to help others on their journey to healing and wellness.

If you know Melanie and Braydon, you know how kind and remarkable they are.

How will funds be used?
All contributions will go 100% directly to Braydon to help reimburse funeral costs and cover final expenses he has had to manage during this difficult time.

Services for Jason Grant Welch will be held this Friday at 1 p.m. at Skyvue Cemetery in Mansfield, TX.

Below is Jason’s obituary, also available on Legacy.com.

Obituary:

Jason Grant Welch passed away on November 30, 2024, in Fort Worth, Texas, at the age of 51.

Born on August 12, 1973, at Ellsworth Air Force Base in South Dakota, Jason was the son of Noble Edwin Welch and Betty Jane Stell. He married Melanie Beth Cooper on November 24, 2023, at Beth-El Congregation in Fort Worth. Jason found joy in playing bingo, watching football, spending time with his family, and playing Xbox with his son.

Jason proudly served in the United States Navy from 1994 to 1996.

We are deeply grateful to our family and friends for their love and support during this devastating time. Jason was a bright light in every room, deeply devoted to his family, and always brought a smile to those around him.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Noble and Betty Welch.

Jason is survived by his wife, Melanie Cooper; his son, Braydon Welch; his sister, Shannon Damron and her husband, Chris; his brothers, Noble Welch, Jr., and Adam Welch; and his nieces and nephews, Samantha Damron, Sierra Smith, Jacob Welch, Christopher Damron, and Ian Damron. He is also survived by his close friends, Patience Johnson and Keith Riddle; his parents-in-law, Debbie and Scott Smith, and Mark and Seme Cooper; his aunts, Linda Stell and Ann Stell; and his uncle, Melton Stell.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to Melanie to assist with funeral expenses or to a veteran-focused organization of your choice.
