Help for burn victim, Shanice Campbell
Hello everyone, my name is Shanice Campbell and I’m 20 years old.
On March 8, 2021, at approximately 7:00 p.m., I was almost home, on my way back from in the town , when I was attacked.
I had just crossed the street to get to my house when someone suddenly appeared from behind a parked car, threw acid on me and quickly fled the scene.
My neighbours heard my screams and rushed to aid me; they tried everything in their power to help me and to limit the burns being caused by the acid.
I was subsequently taken to the Spanish Town Hospital, where I was admitted and treated for acid burns.
Because of the severity of the damage caused by the attack, I had to be transferred to the Kingston Public Hospital for further treatment, where I stayed for a week and was then sent home.
However, I had to be readmitted for my injuries just a month and a half later. It was then that I was advised of the numerous reconstructive procedures that I would need to undergo in order to reverse some of the damage caused by the acid. I will need skin grafts along with other plastic surgery procedures.
I have included two images of myself; one before the gruesome crime perpetrated against me, and one after.
I will be exponentially grateful for any and all donations made that will assist in my getting the necessary surgeries so that I can move on from this heinous incident.
