Hello My name Is Shauna Stewart Gray and this is my wonderful family!
I am a wife, mom and advocate to the many facets of my family of diverse needs and disabilities. My husband suffers from mental health issues My super hero 5 year old has ASD (Autism spectrum disorder) and my 2 beautiful daughters both have IEP 's for Speech. So my days are full just seeing to their needs We also have our Two mothers who are 69 and 75 years old and have to advocate and care for them too.
You know you never know what you may go through in life and when things happen and change ..You sometimes find yourself wondering why me? But instead I asked myself why not you ?Who could tell the tell the story of how hard it is to live in this time when funds are short but stomachs are hungry and just going to the store can be more risky than going to a hospital sometimes. When you live in an apartment that wants 50% of your income but it has been deemed uninhabitable and when the program to help me make living in my city affordable, just told you that we might not be able to help you for much longer. You try not to buckle from the stress because 3 generations depend on you doing what everyone needs. I have not been able to go to work right now due to the pandemic. I am a server and my husband usually try to find work as a dishwasher. And DC is a service city. But I have been working with The Capital Area Food Bank and I am an Consumer advocate with DHS in DC .I try to help address the issues with food insecurity and Housing and try to give as much input for change as I possibly can."Getting in Good Trouble "I Fight for a world that caregivers that make a sacrifice to take care of disabled and elderly individuals will not have to live in poverty or not have safe affordable housing. With your help my family can keep a roof over our heads and fed and make sure that we can get some real help to get long term support for my family. Thank You For Blessing Us And May Yah bless you!
