Help for Carolyn's Medical Bills

I am Gayle Pemberton, Carolyn's sister. On July 18, 2022, Carolyn had a seizure and subsequent testing revealed lymphoma of the brain. She has been in hospital and rehab care since then, with several ambulance trips for treatment. After much thought, she decided to enter hospice care. Insurance covers the services of hospice, but not room and board. She entered hospice today at Care One in Northampton, MA. The cost is $438 per day for room and board. While she has long-term care insurance, it is covering only $238 of that cost. In addition, many billed services not covered by her Medicare are now due. We have gutted her retirement accounts and I have no funds to cover her costs.

Carolyn, as those of you who have met her know, is a wonderful person and friend. She was a dedicated high school French teacher for many years and a hard-working human resource diversity and equity expert for two decades. Her easygoing style and winning personality have made her friends all over the country. It would be wonderful to take this enormous financial burden away for her final months.
