Road To Recovery For Cassidy And Unborn Child
On the evening of may 19, our family
received a phone call that would forever change our lives! We learned that
Cassidy Blalock was a victim of shooting while visiting a friend. While
visiting she was in the living room area
when a car pulled up and a man began
shooting. While running for coverage, A
bullet struck her in her left upper arm
traveling into her left upper chest wall.
She had to be airlifted to the closest
trauma center. She suffered lung injury
and had to have a chest tube placed. The bullet broke her humerus and severed
her brachial artery. She has already had
one surgery which surgeons had to
remove a vein from her leg to repair the damage to her severed artery. Her
forearm had to be opened to relieve pressure to the artery and a wound vac was
placed. Currently she also has an
external fixator placed to help with
healing. She is expected to have several more surgeries including skin graphs to
repair damage.
She is currently 5 months pregnant
expecting her first child. Her baby girl is stable and luckily has had no
complications. Cassidy is strong and is a
fighter, however, she continues to worry about her unborn baby, her medical costs and lost wages during her long road to recovery.
Cassidy has a strong support group. Her mother has been staying with her but
also has two other small children at
home. Family’s medical insurance will
not cover all medical bills.
This family really needs support from our community for traveling expenses, medical bills not covered by insurance, food, lost wages, and support for her unborn baby girl. She is only 17 years old, and was just in the wrong place at the wrong time!
This case is currently being investigated and family is continuing prayers for
justice.
Please keep our family in your prayers!
Anything given would be greatly
appreciated!
