Please, Help Christie & Harold Kemp Recover

Yes, it takes a village! ❤️

My lifelong friend, George Wienbarg and I have started this Go Fund Me campaign for my sister, Christie, and her husband, Harold. Please read George's and my individual requests. Thank you.

From Janna Cable Pijoan:
I write this heartfelt request, asking you to contribute to this Go Fund Me campaign that my friend George and I started for my sister and brother-in-law, both in their mid 70's, with the hope that they will be able to recover and get back on their feet. My sister, Christie, was scammed, and their bank account completely drained. They relied on it to pay all their bills, including mounting medical bills that continue to come in from three recent surgeries they both needed to have. She was notified that her identity had been stolen and that their bank account was being hacked. Instead, it was being stolen.

For some, $16,000 may not seem like a lot, but it was simply what they had. Too late did she learn that it went to an unretrievable account, set up to scam people and that she had been completely wiped out! Facing the reality, that they had now lost their means to cover their medical bills, and even pay their rent, continues to take the biggest toll on both of them that we've ever witnessed. If you or anyone you know can offer your help to get them back on their feet, and help restore a faith that feels as if it's been trodden on, we would deeply appreciate it.

Please share this with your family and friends. Thank you...with love, Janna

From George Wienbarg:
Four years ago, as many of you know, I was involved in an altercation in front of my home here in New York that left me nearly dead. If it weren’t for the efforts of Christie Cable (Kemp) and Janna Cable (Pijoan)— through Go Fund Me — I would’ve been left alone and destitute here in New York City. All my friends across the entire country came through for me with their donations, enabling me to get back on my feet again.

Now, unbelievably, my dear friend Christie Cable Kemp, and her husband Harold, are in need of my, no OUR, immediate help.

Friday afternoon, March 31, she was scammed by a ruse that would’ve caught any of us off guard. She was notified that her identity had been stolen and their bank account had been hacked. She was told to quickly transfer their money into an alternate "safe" account to keep it from being stolen. The "alternate" account was an unretrievable one used by these criminals to con her out of everything they had.

We are often besieged with requests, which we can become inured to. But in this case, it is a family that I have known and loved, not only in my lifetime, but in my parents' lifetimes as well.

Janna and Christie have been my closest friends for 60 years, and Christie’s paintings have physically demonstrated the love and care she’s always offered to her friends and her community.

$16,000 is not a lot of money for some people, but it was all she and her husband, Harold, had. Now this is gone and my friends are utterly bereft. I want to ask you on my behalf to contribute to this Go Fund Me campaign, to help a friend who gave so much to me when I needed it most.

I’m sure there’s no one who would not want to lend a hand to someone caught in a storm, not of their own making, but almost beyond our understanding. Please share with everyone you know who has known the Cable family or me. You, who’ve been touched by us in some way over the previous years. Thank you, George.
