Help for displaced residents of Grand Valley Fire

Donation protected
On the evening of July 28th, 12 residents living at 34 Main Street, Grand Valley were forced to evacuate as a fire devastated their homes. The residents including a 12-year-old girl, a pregnant woman and an elderly with medical conditions were forced to leave everything behind as they were awoken by neighbours banging on their door and a fire alarm sounding. Grabbing their pets and only what they can hold in their hands they exited the building as the fire department arrived on the scene. Despite the excellent efforts of the fire department, many of the units experienced fire and smoke damage, causing the need for great repair. The Red Cross has stepped in to help provide short-term accommodations which will only be available to the tenants for a few days at which time they will be left without a place to stay.

We have started this page to help these community members cover some of the costs associated with having to start over. Many were uninsured and do not have family support so it is up to all of us to help.

We encourage all the members and friends of our amazing community to donate what they can and the funds will be dispersed equally amongst all the residents to help them with their struggles.
