Help for Fred and Jennifer Reardon
Donation protected
My brother Freddy (Fred) Reardon was admitted to hospital on January 28, 2022 with shortness of breath. Today, February 11, 2022 he was told that he will be sent to Ottawa, ON for life-saving surgery where a Ventricular Assist Device (VAD) will be placed in his heart to help pump blood to his body.
Freddy has bicuspid aortic valve disease. There were no signs or symptoms before this. The aortic valve in a typical healthy heart has three flexible “leaflets” that open and close to send oxygen-rich blood on a one-way route from the heart to the aorta. But a person with a bicuspid aortic valve has only two leaflets (also known as flaps or cusps). This in turn, has weakened his heart. A normal heart ejection factor is between 50-75 and Freddy’s is 18.
If the doctors in Ottawa, ON are unable to do the (VAD) surgery because of his weakened heart, he will be placed on the heart transplant list.
Freddy or Fred as he is known to his friends, has many difficult decisions to make. One of them is having to sell his restaurant, Classic Cafe East which he has owned for 16 years. As the sole income earner for his family, this will cause great difficulty for him and his family.
Freddy and his family need all the financial help possible. He is receiving no income with the closure of the restaurant and will be heading to Ottawa, ON as soon as a bed is available.
The last thing we want now is for Freddy and Jennifer to be thinking about money, and so we are launching this Go Fund Me to provide help to them.
We know this has been a difficult time for everyone with having to deal with Covid, but if you are able to help, it is greatly appreciated.
Thank you on behalf of:
