Help for Gaby Montoya Ricketts!

Gabriella Montoya has been struggling for several months with stomach pain, weight loss and seizures. Her mom has taken her multiple times to the doctor and emergency room, where they were unable to find anything wrong with her. At one point she was hospitalized for meningitis. When she came home from the hospital, we discovered she had a parasite as well. She was treated and seemed to be feeling better. A few weeks ago, however, she had a full out seizure and has been hospitalized ever since. She started in Inspira, who sent her to Cooper, who sent her to CHOP. We believe she is in the best place for the care she needs. She is currently being treated for a severe infection in her brain, which is most likely an extremely rare parasite, and the treatment seems to be working. But now the doctors are unsure of whether this diagnosis is correct and questioning whether her doing well is simply the result of the steroids she is taking alongside the anti-parasitic and not actually healing her body. We are asking for prayer for a correct diagnosis and treatment, wisdom for the doctors and peace, tenacity and endurance for those caring for Gaby (including her mom). Her mom has taken a leave of absence from work, which is a financial strain on the family but absolutely necessary for the treatment of Gaby. Simultaneously, the family is working with a lawyer to try to get Gaby’s dad/Dori’s husband in the the US from Mexico. We would appreciate prayers for that as well. Gaby’s big brother Dominic would love your prayers as well. He misses his mom and sister very much. Please keep the entire family in your prayers. That is what we need in a huge way.
