Help for the Girls Got Power youth center
Hi I’m Amber, I’ve partnered with my 12 year old daughter Kamor to create a non profit called Girls Got Power. As a mom of a middle schooler I know the challenges we face as parents when our girls are coming into age. My daughter at one point felt out of place at school, she tried to fit in but if you don’t act a certain way or look a certain way you are bullied by peers. This was a scary time for me because I remember how hard it is for young girls to fit in or how they can easy feel insecure and rejected when they don’t. Who and where are the positive roles models for our girls? Someone has to step up because our girls are being poorly influenced by so many different things like music, social media, television, school and sometimes in their own homes. GGP focuses on reminding girls age 11-16 that they are powerful! We have the power to lead, the power to say no and the power to become whatever we dream of. Our girls need to hear this daily, it’s their inner power that they must use to avoid going into the wrong direction.
We are in need of a youth center to serve as a safe outlet for girls to be girls without judgement. Our center will offer educational tools such as tutoring, computers and more. We’ll have a game room to help promote social development, we’ll also have performing arts and plan on partnering with local therapist to help with mental challenges. These are only a few things our center will offer, the biggest thing we will give our girls is love and we will make it our mission to help as many girls as possible. We need your help to bring this vision life! Let’s be the change this generation needs, every dollar raised will get us one step closer to the youth center. Let’s show our girls that they have power!
