Help for Havasupai Animals
Donation protected
Many of us have fallen in love with the Havasupai people and their gorgeous lands. With Covid 19, the main economic driver of their economy, tourism, has been shuttered. I have communicated with the tribe's administrative office and they have indicated that some great ways to help them during this difficult time would be to help with their animals. Our goal is to at least provide a squeeze of hay (around 60 bales) along with alfalfa seeds that their farmers can use to grow more food for their horses. In addition, they stated that anything that can be donated for their pets such as dog food and tick collars would be greatly appreciated. We are applying for special permission to be able to enter Indian Road 18 so we can drop these supplies off at the hilltop. None of the volunteers will go close to a tribal member in order to prevent any possible transmission of covid 19. The tribe has indicated that they can have the supplies hauled down to the village by helicopter.
