Help for Herman, Marci and Morgan

Hi everyone, my name is Amber Wilson (Lane) and I’m setting up this go fund me account to help ease some of the struggles for Marci, Herman and Morgan.

This is what Marci wrote about the horrible accident:

“Dear Family and Friends,

Early Wednesday morning at 1 am, Herman was riding his motorcycle and hit by a driver, who ran from the scene. Herman was taken to Harborview via ambulance and admitted into their trauma unit. He is stable, but our lives will forever be changed.

Herman suffered extensive injuries including damage to his aorta, fractured ribs, severe spinal fracturing and damage to his spinal cord.

His aorta has been repaired with a stent and they expect a full recovery from that.

His ribs will heal themselves with time.

His spine and spinal cord however are not repairable. The fractured pieces of his spine tore his spinal cord completely. He has surgery where they put rods and screws in to help stabilize the spine, but his spinal cord will never heal.

Herman has lost all sensation and muscle control from about his belly button down. It is not expected for him to be able to walk again. Nuerosurgery described it as wires being completely cut, and no signal going from his brain to his lower body. He is able to move his arms and hands, head and neck. There is no brain damage and his heart and lungs are doing great. While this is absolute tragic for our family, there are many things we are finding to be grateful for, number one being that he is still here with us today. Herman will be able to hold our daughter, Morgan, and be able to watch her grow. He still has his memory and his personality. Occupational Therapy is very optimistic that he will be able to do most of what he needs to do independently. We will just have to learn a new way of life.

I am sure this news is very hard for you to digest, and while I am happy to update people and answer questions, at this time we are asking for space to cope and for prayers. I will return messages and give updates as I am able to.

At this time Herman can only have 1 visitor per day and that is being reserved for immediate family only.

Please keep us in your thoughts and prayers while we navigate through this tragedy.

As many of you know Herman and Marci have a newborn. Marci is still on her maternity leave but her time off is slowly dwindling. Her job is protected at this point for more time off to navigate this extremely difficult road but financially it is not. With the loss of income and unexpected expenses any amount that you can give helps them tremendously at this time. All proceeds will go directly to Marci and Herman. If you have the pleasure of knowing either of them they are always first to help out their friends and family with anything they need. We can all step up to the plate and help however we can. Please share their story and let’s help ease this massive tragedy for them so they can focus on healing and finding their way to this new way of living.
