Help for Homeless Hornell family

Dave and I recently noticed a family living in a small RV in the public parking lot at the Hornell YMCA.  We gave them some money to help them out, but the image of this family of 5 living in a tiny RV during the holidays kept haunting me.  After a few calls and a little digging, I found out more about them.  They are the Franklin family:  Anna is 11, Dakota is 19, and Tyler is 20.  Mom is Nicole and dad is Darren.  You may have seen Dakota riding his lawn mower around town during the summer... he is a hard worker and has a lawn care business.  They had a house they were renting/buying, but recently were evicted because they couldn’t afford the rent.  Dad works as a cab driver, mom can no longer work.   She was recently hospitalized with complications from lupus and RA, and a lung infection from black mold.  Tyler is a college student at RIT but may not be able to return in January if they don’t find the money to pay his tuition bill ($3800).  I spoke with the family today... they are ok living in the RV while waiting for public housing (they are 3rd on the list),  but they need money for gas to fuel their RV generator until they can get into an apartment.  They are also desperate to raise $3,800 to pay Tyler’s tuition bill - he’s a smart kid with a bright future as a biomedical engineer.  He’s very polite and unselfish... he gave up his cell phone to pay for gas for the RV.  Please donate if you can.  Every little bit will help.    I want to publicly thank the Hornell YMCA.... they donated a membership to the family so that they have a place to shower each day.  Also, thank you to Jason Jones and the Hornell Youth Football League who are donating a Wegmans gift card, and Milliner’s Southern Smoke and Jody Barnett who are donating food.   ❤️
