My good friend Jamie needs your help! She's an amazing person with such a caring positive attitude throughout her fight with breast cancer. Here is her story and more details on why she needs some help:
The last three years have been challenging after I was diagnosed with a very aggressive, rapidly developed form of breast cancer, stage 2 estrogen, progesterone, and HER2+. I underwent a double mastectomy, an unsuccessful reconstruction, chemo and treatment. After treatment I experienced a lower lumbar spinal fracture. Despite rehab, I never fully recovered and had to retire from EMS. Recently I suffered a second lower lumbar spinal fracture. I’ve been seeing my oncologist, an orthopedic surgeon, endocrinologist, and metabolic doctor over the last two months trying to get to the bottom of what is going on and why my bones are breaking so easy. There have been countless labs, tests, and scans as they are looking for bone metastasis. I am still awaiting some test results. The doctors have ordered vitamin B12 injections once a month to help my thyroid because my body for some reason is not absorbing the vitamins I need. I never new how much the thyroid plays into bone growth and density. Unfortunately due to the frailty of my bones I’m limited to lifting only 10 lbs and surgery to repair the fracture is not feasible as the osteopenia very quickly became severe osteoporosis. Also in order to reduce the high possibility of recurrence with the type of breast cancer I had, I need hormone blocking treatment. The treatment is on hold because it will lower my bone density further which will put me at a higher probability of more fractures and will progress the speed of the osteoporosis. So in order to move forward with the hormone blocking treatment and try to slow the osteoporosis I need bone density infusions, approximately 2-3 times a year. These shots are not covered by insurance and cost $1,300 per shot and my wife Heather and I cannot afford. The labs, tests, scans and blood work costs to date reached $2,147 out of pocket costs within the last month and aren't covered by insurance.
My goal is to help Jamie pay for the injections she needs and other medical costs. Jamie is such a giving person and I want to do whatever I can to help her get better. Any amount you can give is greatly appreciated!
