Support and Prayers for Joaquin “Jack” Cueva

Dear friends and family,

We are setting this up on behalf of our cousin Joaquin and his family.  As many of you know Joaquin "Jack" Cueva is currently fighting Covid at Sharp Hospital in Chula Vista.  He and his family all became infected with this terrible virus about 2 weeks ago.  The past couple of weeks have been a roller coaster for his family.  Joaquin was in and out of urgent care a few times. Unfortunately, on Friday morning (2/19) he was having trouble breathing and had to call 911.  He is currently still hospitalized and being cared for by the great staff at Sharp Chula Vista.  He is not sure how long he will have to stay there because things change day to day.  Since he is asthmatic, his recovery will take longer and he's already been told that he will need an oxygen tank when he goes home.

Joaquin has already missed several weeks of work and will most likely be out from work a few months depending on how quickly he recovers. There are so many things that are uncertain right now, but the MOST important is that his health improves and that he can go home and continue his recovery in the comfort of his own home. Fortunately, Joaquin has a good medical plan that will cover his medical bills and that is a huge blessing.

Joaquin will not be able to work for some time and after next week, he will have exhausted all of his sick pay and vacation days. This unexpected illness is causing a financial burden on Joaquin and his family, especially since his wife Alicia can't go back to work yet either as she is still recovering from the virus. Joaquin is not one to ask for help but we know that this situation is bringing additional stress at a time when he needs to get better. He's the type of person that would give you the shirt off of his back and always has a positive outlook on life. This account has been created in order to help alleviate some financial burden. Feel free to also leave messages and words of encouragement on here.

We ask that you please continue to pray for Joaquin and his family's health and if you are able to, please help support them in any way that you can. Any amount is greatly appreciated in these unforeseen times. God bless you.

We spoke on the phone the last couple of days and he has expressed that he is very grateful for all the warm thoughts and prayers that he is receiving from so many friends and family. He says, "Thank you!"
