Help for Kirstin

Hi, I'm Christina , and I am fundraising for my bestie, Kirstin Peterson whose health has been in critical decline over the past year.

 

Kirstin has been in and out of the hospital for some time, struggling with multiple issues related to hemoglobin levels, liver enzyme levels and a few other issues. She ended up in critical liver failure and was rushed to Piedmont hospital in Atlanta. Without a transplant, she had been given a 1% chance of survival within days. The good news is, after a lot of tests and approval process, she was approved for the transplant. The transplant surgery has already taken place. But the road to recovery is a long one.

 

Kirstin is determined to beat this and get better. She's in the best of spirits that she can be but has faced some struggles in her recovery. She is currently still at the hospital where she will continue to undergo rehab to get her walking again and daily dialysis to get her kidneys functioning.

She will remain at the hospital for the next month or so, depending on progress.  From there, she will go to a temporary home in Atlanta since she will still need to receive treatments at Piedmont for 6 weeks. Her long-term care, will involve monthly trips to Atlanta for testing, treatments and expensive medication she must take to ensure her body doesn’t reject the transplant.

 

The medications are very costly, and her medical bills will be significant even with insurance. There are some programs to help but they won’t cover everything. Her social worker recommended fundraising to help with these costs. If you can donate even a small amount, it would help tremendously.

 

Kirstin is very stubborn and determined. So that’s a good thing. In the meantime, any positive thoughts or good vibes you can send her way are appreciated, too.
