Help for Laura Caroluzzi after Hurricane Ida
My name is Jessica and I’m a neighbor of Laura’s.
On September 1st hurricane ida hit the northeast and our neighborhood experienced unexpected and devastating flooding. It was a flash flood that swept away people’s lives within less than two hours. Laura’s husband, Jack, lost his life in the flood.
Attached is a YouTube video with Laura’s story for anyone that may have missed it. Jack was battling cancer and was attempting to save some sentimental items from the flood. Where his house was placed on the street was where the flood water was rising very high very fast. As Jack attempted to save items from Laura’s late father, he met his fate. It’s still unknown how exactly he may have passed but it is suspected that he was electrocuted.
Laura is left with no husband, cars (both totaled as we have street parking and Jack did move them, not realizing how high water would actually get), and no home. The water was in her basement and first floor. She and Jack were married for 32 years.
please consider donating so we, as neighbors, can help her rebuild her life (which includes a new car, replacing ruined furniture, etc.) and/or pay for Jack’s funeral and cremation.
I have included one of Laura’s nieces, Kristina, in this fundraiser. She will be giving Laura the money once we have what we need.
I want to try and reach our goal so we can help her replace as much as possible so that she can focus on healing from her grief, as this was an extremely traumatic event for her.
thank you.
