Help for lil Miss Maisie
Donation protected
For those of you that have not had the pleasure, let me introduce you to the gorgeous little Maisie and her amazing Dad, Mark. This beautiful family will melt the hearts of the toughest of people. When lil Miss Maisie giggles, it is a sound that will never be forgotten and just makes your heart smile.
This beautiful little girl has had a bit of a rough start, being born with an extremely rare condition, Nasal Chondromesenchymal Hamartoma. This is a tumour/mass that started in her nasal cavity.
This was initially operated on within weeks of her birth and has been closely monitored since. Surgeons and specialists knew she would require more surgery as she grew, but the hope was that this would not occur till she was closer to 4 years of age. Being the little trooper that she is this has not held her back, and she runs at life with the innocence and exuberance that only a baby/toddler can endure.
Unfortunately, during a recent check up it has been discovered that the tumour is more aggressive than first thought and Maisie is now scheduled for major surgery in January as the tumour is now growing in the nasal cavity and brain cavity. This surgery will take place in Sydney, where Maisie and Mark will be required to stay for a minimum of 2 weeks for recovery.
While surgeons and specialists are confident that she will make a full recovery, this is obviously having a financial burden on Mark. Mark works as often as he can at The Basement. However, he will have no income support when he takes this time off to be with his little girl.
Mark has a fantastic little village of support, that helps with everything they can. This has been a great comfort and help emotionally, however this little family needs more. Although there are a lot of charities out there that can provide assistance where possible, ie: Ronald McDonald House, this will still be a financial drain for Mark. The cruel fact is that bills do not stop for a sick child. It is my hope that we can raise enough funds that Mark does not need to worry about the burden of rent or utilities during this time, and he can concentrate all his efforts into Maisie and her recovery. With maybe a little leftover for a swing set or something for this most special little girl.
While I understand a lot of people struggle at this time of year, it is also the time of miracles, compassion and love. So, I implore you, if it is within your means, please donate to this very worthy cause. Let’s all band together to help this family in their time of need.
