Help for Maplevale Families

My name is Alex Rishel, I'm 22 and I have lived in the same house in Maplevale since I was 3. On Saturday, July 15, 2023, the families in my small but close-knit 50-home neighborhood faced destruction from the worst flash flood most of us have ever experienced. Water rushed in through the front doors of homes, cars were flooded and destroyed, kitchens and other appliances were destroyed by water and sewage, backyards were washed away, and multiple feet of water accumulated in garages and basements. I created this page to help my neighbors pay for new appliances, cars, and help cover other costs of cleaning and restoring their homes.

I feel so grateful to have been raised in this pocket of the Philadelphia suburbs. This neighborhood is special. We walk our dogs after dinner together, we know everyone by name, and we have each other's backs, but this is more than we can handle on our own. I am aware and acknowledge that this flood affected many homes and families in my area and we are appreciative of the support that we have received. This community of a neighborhood is unique and any help would be greatly appreciated.

Unfortunately, many of the homes in this neighborhood do not have flood insurance or even qualify for flood insurance since we are not in a floodplain.

The funds raised from this campaign will be distributed to the affected residents of Maplevale & Meadow Drive to help offset the expenses of repairing their homes and replacing major appliances.
