Help for Nick Lingenfelter's Medical Expenses
As cousins of this beautiful family, we know that their plate is full and it's hard for them to ask for help. Medical expenses for Nick's condition have been piling up and continue to do so. Nick is too sick to work and Elizabeth has been working multiple jobs to try to keep up. However, ambulance rides to Hershey as well as expensive medicine and procedures on one income is near impossible.
About Nick:
In 2017 Nick was diagnosed with liver disease after an emergency room visit because he was vomiting blood. For two years scopes were done to ban the varices so he wouldn’t have another episode. In 2019 two scopes were fine then Covid happened and in 2020 they didn’t have any scopes.
On Good Friday of this year Nick went for a scope and there were five varices and they removed a bleeding polyp from his stomach and placed three clips in his stomach. In April he went to Hershey for a TIPS procedure. The goal was to get the blood flowing and not creating the pressure at the portal vein because this pressure is what creates these varices and there’s no reason rhyme or reason why or when they burst or explode when he was in Hershey in 2017. The doctors told Nick several times that he was very lucky he survived because only one in four survive what he went through.
Nick has been diagnosed with stage 4 liver disease and now there are new complications with his gall bladder and the doctors are determining next steps at this point in time.
Nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH) is liver inflammation and damage caused by a buildup of fat in the liver. It is part of a group of conditions called nonalcoholic fatty liver disease.
Thank you and please continue to pray for health and healing for Nick.
