Help For Nicole and Melody’s Medical Emergency
I am starting this campaign for Nicole and Melody, because they are in particularly dire need at the moment, and anything you can offer will be appreciated beyond description. Here’s their current situation, in Melody’s words:
“My wife went for a routine well-woman’s exam with complaints of increasing monthly pain - to the point of being bedridden several days a month. They did an ultrasound and bloodwork and very scary markers came back. Although we knew they would operate, the procedure became an emergency once they were in the operating room. Everything we discussed pre-op changed. The 45 minute procedure turned to 2.5 hours and a full hysterectomy, oophorectomy and appendectomy. The after care has also turned on a dime, as her incision has opened. We now need home health care. She will heal, but it has been about a month of very scary news.
When we first got the news of her need for surgery, the surgeon’s office called us and insisted we change insurance plans lest we get gouged by feeble coverage. Luckily, we were within a time-limit to change the plan, but it increased our premium $700 a month. My wife cannot work right now with her incision in this peril and I’ve been in unemployment over a year since Covid decimated the entertainment industry. We have not begun to receive our operating room and ICU bills but our new plan charges $5000 for the operating room and her ICU time was extended due to the vertical incision and full removal. After-care including wound care and home nursing is next. Currently it is $500 per visit to see a wound specialist. I’m sure we’ll need a few visits. All of this is on a Platinum insurance plan. Platinum. And we’re already in the red at least $10k. Any money received will be used to cover these costs that otherwise will not be remotely affordable.
I am grateful, ahead of time, for any and all help. Thank you all!”
