Help for our dear friend Rob Sabin

Our friend Rob Sabin has served people all his life and now needs our help. He has selflessly served as an EMT, missionary, pastor, chaplain and hospice chaplain and is now disabled, dependent on others serving him. He can no longer drive or walk without assistance - due to losing the functioning balance system we all take for granted.

We started this GoFundMe to help him gain some independence back.

There are mobility aids that will help but are not covered by his insurance; since Rob has served others throughout his life, he doesn’t have the means to acquire them.

This past February, a virus attacked Rob’s balance system in his ears, killing the vestibular nerves. His world, at age 53, with two teenage children, has flipped upside down. Due to the nerve damage, he will unfortunately never drive again. This fundraiser is to help him gain back some independence.

Specifically, mobility devices such as walkers, wheelchairs, and service animals are not covered by his particular insurance policy,

and Rob is in need of help with the cost of some of these mobility aids.

He has recently been donated a Labrador puppy that will be trained as a mobility assist dog but needs to raise funds to cover the cost of the 18 months of professional training.

Further, he is seeking a mobility adapted three-wheel bicycle to regain independence, enabling him to run local errands, exercise the dog, and get to his children’s various events.

The overall amount we hope to raise is $25,000; this will cover the training and equipment for the service dog and the adapted tricycle.

Anyone who has known Rob, even for a short time, knows he seldom thinks of himself, consistently putting others first; I hope we can come through for him in his time of need.
