Help Pleasant's Family Through Breast Cancer
Donation protected
Hello!
My name is Pleasant and last month my husband, Jesse and I, found out I have breast cancer. We have two young children ages 4 and 2. Ivy (4) and Brighton (2). Being only 30 and getting a cancer diagnosis has obviously not been easy to process and life seems to be throwing everything it can at our family in this current season. Asking for help and being vulnerable about what's happening is not easy for me. But, without asking, many of you have reached out to our family and have started asking how you can help us and be there for us in this rough season. We want to be honest about the situation we are in and set up this page so that you can help if you are able.
Before this diagnosis, I was in the process of working multiple jobs, here and there, and doing photography to help with additional income. But now, with how I'm feeling, I don't see that being a realistic possibility for some time. My husband works very hard to continually provide for our family and I am so incredibly grateful for him. As an EMT, he on average works multiple 48 hour shifts a week, away from our family, just to keep us afloat with how horrible the current cost of living is. With him still being new at his job with the county, the logistics of him having the time off available to be with me during future treatment and the inevitable surgery/surgeries recovery times is not looking great. Not only does he not have the necessary time off available, but he also is not going to be able to work all the extra hours needed to make up the difference that's necessary to pay all the bills and still afford everyday essentials like groceries, gas, etc.
Needless to say, like many, finances are our biggest struggle right now. We're so blessed to have so many people in our lives, that love us so much, have reached out asking to help, and we would be incredibly grateful for any help you are able to provide us. Being able to fight this diagnosis and heal without the incredible weight of worrying about how we're going to pay our bills and provide for our family would be a gift beyond what I could ever put into words.
Right now it looks like I will be having surgery in August or September. We don't know what kind of surgery yet because we are waiting for genetic testing to come back before making a decision on how aggressive we want to be with the surgery. Even though the cancer seems to be early according to what we know from the biopsy, my providers are suspicious that it may not be and we won't know the true extent of everything until after my initial surgery.
We are doing our best to take this one step at a time and stay present and positive. We are just taking it one day at a time and know this is going to be a process. We are so appreciative of all of the prayers, love, and support we have received during the last couple weeks. We're constantly reminded that we are not alone and that this is just a bump in the road. Thank you so much to everyone who's reached out and provided any amount of kindness, encouragement, or love; and thank you, thank you, thank you, to anyone who feels able to help us financially through donating to this fund.
We will update you all as we know more.
Love,
Pleasant and Jesse Morris
