Please Help with Quinn's TMJD & Skeletal Problems

Dear GoFundMe Supporters: Family, Friends, and Those Near and Far,

I hope this finds you in good spirits and soaking in our long-awaited fine weather.
Thank you in advance for stopping by to read my not so short story:
Once an outgoing, active athlete and a Secondary School Ontario Scholar recipient at graduation (despite my NVLD non-verbal learning disability), my injuries have markedly changed my life as I’ve been unable to work or attend school due to persistent cognitive and physical challenges:

Since 2012, I’ve been dealing with the aftermath of several close-in-time team--related concussions (soccer and volleyball) with associated whiplash injuries resulting in PCS (post-concussion syndrome). My final challenge is recovery from these post-injuries development of TMJD (temporal mandibular joint dysfunction) and upper thoracic scoliosis and their associated symptoms.
Many costly and mostly non-provincial health covered treatments already sought out over time have included specialized assessments with: a Neuropsychologist for cognitive function; a (neuro) Optometrist for prism glasses (with blue light blocker) to correct diagnosed perceived visual-midline-shift (due to altered brain central visual processing); a Doctor of Audiology prescribed 2 Signia persistent tinnitus-relieving hearing devices (for altered brain central hearing processing); many sequential dental splints cast and fitted by a DDS to re-adjust bite and relieve nighttime bruxism (teeth grinding); a Physical Rehabilitation MD for myofascial pain site anesthetic injections; Doctors of Chiropractic and -Osteopathy adjustment regimes; Registered Massage Therapist for painful deep myofascial- release massages; Registered Physical Therapist for in-clinic patented mechanized applications for deep myofascial-release, and my prescribed very involved home physical therapy regimen as tolerated; Low-Intensity Cold Laser Therapy; Anatomical Acupuncture; long-term Clinical Psychologist sessions (post-injury rehabilitation); and my outdoor fair-weather walking routine as tolerated. Although I’m very thankful for all the professional care I’ve received here at home so far, I’m left frustrated by few answers when questioned about the interconnectedness of intricate body physiology regarding my case. ~Kindly bear with me~…

Dr. Lee CV

For A Visual Representation:

Unfortunately, many painful symptoms can be associated with TMJD and Atlas dysfunction. Cervical spine vertebrae #2/Atlas is the only upper cervical spine vertebrae that rotates the head side to side, and flexes it downward and extends it upward. My upper-thoracic spine distortion (scoliosis) causing my left shoulder to now be higher than my right shoulder, and my left leg now pulled up to be shorter than my right leg has caused an imbalance in my TMJs, thus affecting my entire spinal alignment all the way down the spine to my pelvis. This has placed a great strain on my nervous system (body, mind, and emotions). Episodes of chronic fatigue, headaches behind the eyes, vertigo, disorientation, nerve irritation pain, and digestive issues are just some of my experienced symptoms.

I’m still experiencing almost daily jaw, facial, neck, and shoulder (myofascial pain) despite MD-supervised prescription oral nerve pain meds, anti-depressant medications, and supplements. After much research and thought, I’ve decided to seek specialized care abroad at the Lee Young Jun Clinic of Korean Medicine in Cheonan, South Korea the end of September. A consolidated, comprehensive, rigorous, full-body treatment approach in one specialty clinic location is available there. The WEBSITES BELOW offer those pictures worth a thousand words, so PLEASE EXPLORE THEM, as they are VITAL TO UNDERSTANDING my complex issues (No, I’m not yelling at you)

~Back again~…
Ten years post-injuries, my now senior parents have driven me far and wide to appointments, paying for all long-term non-provincial health insurance-funded treatments. I’m still living at home, and they continue to support me in every way possible for which I’m immensely grateful. Despite attempts, I’ve been unable to work or continue with my schooling (which was in Psychology) due to cognitive and physical challenges. Frustrating indeed!

Dr. Lee’s treatments would consist of using two separate custom-made intra-oral devices: a manually adjusted cervical balancing device, and 1 of either TMJ balancing or occlusion balancing appliance(s). Complementary therapies such as Pelvic and Spinal Balancing; Craniosacral Therapy; Acupuncture; Physical Therapy, and herbally-based medications would be offered. All of these therapies would be done in conjunction with the intra-oral devices and are equally as important for restoring balance, and unblocking vertebral channels thus restoring optimal brain function. This creates a well-rounded, all-inclusive treatment approach where there is optimal communication (no isolation) between team healthcare providers.

All funds raised would go towards:

• Solo return Airfare (economy aisle seat) and land transportation = $2,068 + ?$
• Trip Interruption Insurance + Out of Country Medical Insurance.
• Accommodation by clinic $300 deposit, ($600/mo.USD) = $1,200 for 2 months.
• Clinic initial MD assessment: $300 USD + same at re-evaluation intervals.
• Specialist Allied Team care: Imaging + tests $600 USD +
• At least 20 treatment session packages of $4,000 = $8,000 USD for 2 months.
• Daily living costs: food, sundries. etc.

Successful healing takes time: faith, hope, paced focused work, and restorative rest. I so look forward to my improved and, hopefully citizen-productive, new normal!!

I thank you all very much for taking the time to read my saga. Whether you’d like to contribute or not, please consider sharing my fundraising explanatory presentation with your network (on your social media, family, friends, e-mail, a call, or text, special or prayer groups). The sooner my goal is reached, the sooner I can continue on the next more productive leg of my healing journey.

Many Heartfelt Thanks to YOU!
