Rich Albert, Pizza Hut Shooting Victim

Hi, I'm Leslie Albert from Wilcox, SK (formerly Regina, SK). I am Rich's sister. I have started this GoFundMe to support Rich's family as they struggle through his tragedy.

Rich has such a charismatic personality. He is one of those individuals who would stop on a dime to help someone in need or to just say hello. This is what I am missing most about him at this time as he tries to recover from injuries he sustained from a gunshot wound. Rich has a loving wife, 2 grown children and 3 grown stepchildren. He also has one 4-month-old grandson whom he has not yet met.

Rich was the victim of the Westmount Pizza Hut shooting in Edmonton, AB. Around 12:30 am on March 12, 2023, an armed person entered the business, and in a random act of violence, shot Rich in the head before running from the scene. Police said a bullet casing from Pizza Hut has been forensically matched to the firearm recovered where 2 Edmonton police officers were fatally shot a few days later.

Rich was rushed to the hospital in critical but stable condition.

He has suffered a traumatic brain injury and has lost his left eye. He remains in the hospital where he is showing signs of progress and promise.

The days, months and possibly years ahead will be trying and difficult for Rich, his wife and his family as he begins the long process of healing and rehabilitation.

Our goal is to raise money to help with medical costs, equipment, medication and rehabilitation that will be associated with this incident as well as financial stress. It will be a long road to recovery with many expected and unexpected expenses.

All funds raised will go to Rich’s wife.
