Help for Riu Bella & her Foal

Many of you might know the story already about the Famous Bella Riu. The donkey that was taken care of by many tourists at the Touareg but especially by Sue White, Ian Andrews, Kim Bartlett, Paula Thomas, Julie Carp & Maggie Hefferman. Bella was kicked out by her herd for unknown reasons and became quite poorly. Sue white and 2 other ladies haven taken it upon themselves to arrange a vet visit for Bella.

When the vet came they saw that she had:

She got treated with antibiotics, anti mange cream and treated for parasites. So many people came to feed belle or treat her on a good scratch with one of the brushes that Sue took with her. Sue sat in the beach daily to scrunch up her medication and to make sure Bella got treated and would improve.

But, of course Bella Riu couldn't forever stay on the beach at the Touareg. She needed a forever home where she can be treated and live her best life. So eventually Vicky gave us (Taxi & Tour Gil) a call. Asking us if we know a place which could be her forever home and if we knew a way to get her there.

We didnt have to think long. Sidney from the horse stables of Boa vista would be the best person to take care of her. He has the right space, the right equipment, knowledge and a way to transport her. We called Sidney and he didnt even have to think twice and immediately said yes. 15 minutes later we were on our way with a team of 5 people and a trailer to pick up Bella Riu.

Together with Sue & Kim, Sidney and his team were able to get her in the trailer. 45 minutes later, Bella Riu was in her new forever home with Phoenix, the emaciated horse, Sidney rescued. The next day Bella Riu already completely settled in and became friends with Phoenix.

A few days later Sidney came in the Pen of Bella Riu and Phoenix and to his big surprise he saw that she had a foal overnight! Sidney named him Senhor Spaghetti because he was so unstable on his little legs haha.

Now we have come to the reason why we have set up a go fund me page.

Sidney could really use the help to take care of Bella Riu and her foal. Bella is still not in 100% good health and became quite the spoiled donkey hahah. She doesnt really want to eat "Normal" donkey food anymore and now prefers bread, muesli and fruits over anything else. She and the Foal also still need to be seen by the vet and get treatment.
