Bhaskar's Battle with Brain Cancer - Help the Roys
Donation protected
This Go Fund Me endeavor is to help our neighbors and friends, the Roy Family who are going through financial hardship and a battle with glioblastoma brain cancer.
Bhasker and Shurama Roy come from a Bengali family in Mumbai, India and moved to the US in 2004 for Bhaskar’s higher education and a better life and future. Bhasker graduated from Lamar University as a chemical engineer.
His wife Shurama is a devoted mom and homemaker. They have a 10-year-old daughter in elementary school and a 4-year-old young son in preschool.
For the past 5 years, Bhasker and Shurama have been going through a prolonged phase of hardships.
Bhasker lost his job in 2016 and the Roy family struggled through this period and tapped into their savings to make ends meet. In 2017 they faced a flooded home after Hurricane Harvey while Bhasker was still unemployed. Due to financial strains, they managed to do just the bare minimum of renovations to their home. Bhasker did find employment in mid-2018, but within a year and a half, in early 2020 he was diagnosed with glioblastoma brain cancer.
He is presently being treated at St. Luke's Hospital in Houston. After struggling with this deadly illness for almost a year, the family finds themselves in a dire financial situation. Being immigrants with no family here, they have both endured great emotional hardships, besides the financial strain, and are unable to keep their current family home. They are in need of compassion and financial help from our community and beyond.
We kindly ask that you please help the Roy family with a warm and kind heart during this difficult holiday season for them.
