Help for Shaina's medical expenses

From Shania's soul sister Nicole:

On June 29th, Shaina Rai was rushed to the ICU at Maine Medical Center after experiencing a Cerebral Venous sinus thrombosis (CVST) stroke which occurs when a blood clot or more than one in her case forms in the brain’s venous sinuses. The complications from which left her with a loss of motor skills and in unexpressable amounts of pain. She responded very well to treatment once the clots were discovered and impressed everyone with her improvements in the first few days. Ideally the clot would be minimised and broken down with the use of medication so as to avoid brain surgery. This waiting period consisted of hours of pain and endless tests and expensive scans to closely monitor the progress. Well being monitored it was discovered she was also experiencing symptoms of uncontrolled diabetes, and it was determined she will be requiring insulin to stabilize the high fluctuations and keep her safe. Now in addition to still battling a nasty clot in her beautiful brain, she is also facing all of the fear and heaviness of learning she is insulin dependant for survival moving forward.

Unfortunately her story does not end there.. As anyone who as ever met Shaina for even a moment knows, her heart is huge and she would do literally anything to help someone she saw in need. While still in the ICU, Maine Medical was experiencing a lack of rooms and hardships for other patients who needed ICU care but had no available space on the floor. At this point in time Shaina had been up walking, was no longer to photosensitive to be near open windows or lights, and (while still on hospital medication) was finally experiencing what she described as manageable pain. Shaina did a very brave thing and decided to leave the hospital and continue outpatient care from home with very strict care instructions, allowing a critical patient to have her room and for her to finally see her beloved Piper after days of agony and stress. It became apparent late in the night on July 3rd that Shaina still needed more medical assistance than outpatient care from home could possibly provide(shout out to her amazing parents for caring for her as best as they possibly could with what was laid before them!) And she needed to return to the hospital as the symptoms had again become to much and unpredictable... After a 16 hour wait at a different hospital, Shaina was referred back to Maine Medical Center where she will continue the treatments that she had responded so well to originally.

Shaina is a passionate woman with years of experience working in the medical field burning herself out for the sake of others. She has made it her mission in life to care ruthlessly for her people in a way that is truely beautiful, but she needs some of all the love she has put out into this world to come back to her now and help her heal.

Shaina is uninsured and unfortunately looking at a long recovery before being able to consider working again. I wish I could say that money doesn't matter and that her years of saving up good karma helping others could be cashed in for her time of need, but that is not the reality. For Shaina to receive the care she needs to make a recovery she needs help. With her history in the medical field, learning she is insulin dependant, and having actually lost count of how many CAT scans monitoring the progress of the clot has required... She is seeing dollar signs and also now experiencing immense stress about the cost of the care she desperately needs to make it through this.

Her family had asked for nothing but prayers while spending days advocating for her and doing anything they can but that too has burnt out. In addition to asking the community for prayers, we are now asking for any financial support that can be made. Shaina and her family deserve to know they have a community behind them and focus their energy on prayers at this time instead of this crippling financial worry.. Please if you are able to, donate. If you've been helped by Shaina in you're life at any time in any way, donate. If you know even remotely how beautiful this woman's soul is, please donate. And regardless of your ability to donate PLEASE pray for her recovery. Thank you all!
