Help for rescue puppy, Clover and TLC Sweet Souls
Tax deductible
I volunteered to be a first-time animal foster for TLC Sweet Souls Rescue about 2 weeks ago. The next day I was given a healthy, playful, vaccinated and vetted 12 week old puppy named Clover. He and his sibling were rescued from a high-kill shelter in Georgia. Little Clover lit up our home immediately and captured our hearts. We were so happy to be a part of his journey on his way to his forever home.
Unfortunately, 4 days later, Clover became very sick and we rushed him to an emergency veterinary hospital in the middle of the night in Norwalk, CT. He was diagnosed with Parvo, a highly-contagious and deadly virus that has a mortality rate as high as 80% (affecting puppies most) if they don't receive urgent, supportive medical care and intervention. Clover has been hospitalized for 9 days, receiving round-the-clock treatment and is going to be one of the lucky ones.
Like many rescues, TLC Sweet Souls operates on a shoestring budget and puts all its resources towards getting as many animals out of high-kill shelters to give them their best chance at a lifetime of love. Many of these dogs and puppies need surgeries, such as leg amputations, heartworm treatments, spays, neuters, vaccinations and much more. Their goal is not only rescue the dogs, but to give them the treatment they need so they can have a great life. For the past 10 years, TLC Sweet Souls has given that chance to hundreds of animals.
A puppy contracting Parvo after they've been vaccinated is not something TLC Sweets Souls can absorb, financially. In Clover's case, the priority was to do what was needed and best for him, but they simply don't have the reserves to cover the cost.
We're hoping our pet loving friends and community can help Clover and TLC Sweet Souls with a donation towards emergency medical care. Any amount will help and will be greatly appreciated.
