Help for the Family of Penny Urbanek

My mom, Penny Urbanek, was the most amazing mother in the world! My Mom effortlessly proved to be the most loving amazing wife to my dad, Mike. She was my number one fan and was always there us no matter what! My mom had lived through so many tribulations in her life, but she had always managed to pull through it with a smile on her face.
After fighting her most courageous battle yet with Lymphoma, she was cancer free. While the cancer was now gone, the chemo took a huge toll on her body, especially her liver. Before her diagnosis of Lymphoma, my mom was in the process of taking care of her liver after discovering she had Cirrhosis of the liver. Going through her chemo treatments caused the health of her liver to take a hit.
My mom had been in and out of the hospital several times for having episodes of confusion and memory loss. We discovered that this confusion and loss of memory was due to her ammonia level being extremely high because her liver was not able to work properly. These episodes led to her not being able to speak and become constantly confused and upset. While these health scares may have been extreme, by the grace of God and the help of the nurses and doctors, she came back and was stronger than ever.
With the loss of income due to my mom’s inability to work, our household had a 70% loss in income, so we were not able to afford most things, including rent. This resulted in my parents being evicted, leaving us with the stress of needing to find a place to live while also caring for mom.
As some time passed, after taking a few falls at home, she had began to become weaker and weaker to the point of needing to be hospitalized. While in the hospital, she had spent most of her time in bed to not take the risk of falling again. These falls had taken a toll on her liver. Throughout this last stay at the hospital, my mom had gotten to the point of not being able to speak clearly and not being able to have much use of her hands. It became harder and harder for her body to be able to keep her blood pressure regulated.
Since my mom had been through chemo, she was not able to be put on a liver transplant list for at least 2-3 years, so a transplant was unfortunately not an option. On Thursday morning, October 1, she passed away while being surrounded by her loved ones as they uplifted her spirit with prayers.

With this fund, we will use it towards Mom’s funeral expenses, medical bills and expenses, and towards finding a place to live for Dad.
