Help for the Holtz Family
Donation protected
Hello, my name is Sarah Atcheson and Janna Holtz is dear friend whose family has been faced with a sudden complicated medical emergency. I am raising funds to assist with uncovered medical expenses, related travel expenses, and to help ease the loss incurred from time away from work for self-employed family members of Jordan Holtz.
On Sept 1st, 2023, the Holtz family of Weyburn suffered a very frightening family medical emergency when mother Marleen found her daughter Jordan comatose in her apartment with life-threatening injuries.
Jordan lives on her own but is on the autistic spectrum and has some conditions and social difficulties that make her a vulnerable person. When her mother was unable to reach her on Sept 1st, 2023, she was concerned and entered her apartment. She found Jordan severely injured on the floor and contacted 911. Jordan was airlifted by Stars ambulance to the Regina General Hospital. She was not able to be brought back to consciousness and was put on a ventilator. The first few days were terrifying for the family, not knowing if Jordan would recover. Three days later, she was able to be removed from the ventilator and has slowly been recovering since then. Her family was relieved when her speech started coming back and they could see the same old Jordan that they love so much. She has many face and bodily injuries to heal, but she is strong and continues to improve.
It is not known at this time whether Jordan was the victim of a severe assault, or if she experienced an unexpected medical event. The family is not able to give any further information at this time as this matter is being taken very seriously by the Weyburn City Police and is currently an active police investigation to determine whether a crime was committed. (Please contact WPS if you have any information that may pertain to this case.)
Jordan's mother Marleen (who lives in Weyburn) and her sister Janna (who lives in Lang), have been spending their time with Jordan in the hospital as she recovers, starting in Regina and now in Weyburn. Marleen has been with Jordan every possible moment she can, even sleeping in a chair beside her at all times that she was allowed to do so. Janna has taken time away from work to be available to her family, and is self-employed.
Jordan is a sweet, kind, shy person, and the most polite person you will ever meet. She loves dogs, cats, animals in general, movies, comic books, basketball, Super Mario Brothers, and Garfield. Through her grogginess she was thrilled when she was able to be visited by a therapy dog named Joy while in ICU. Janna has been reading her the kind comments and prayers left for her on Janna's Facebook posts. Jordan has unfortunately been on the receiving end of unkind behaviour many times in her life due to being different, and she is very shocked and touched to hear that people are thinking about her and sending love to her.
Anything that you may be able to contribute to assist this family would be so very appreciated. The funds will be provided to Janna, as needed, to allocate appropriately. Thank you. ♥️
