Help for the Hubleys

Hi, my name is Carrie and I am fundraising for Rebekah Brown-Hubley and her remarkable family. Rebekah’s son, Jonas, came to join their family from Haiti in 2008 on a medical visa and was officially adopted in 2010. Jonas has cerebral palsy, a seizure disorder, is blind, autistic and nonverbal. He is medically complex and requires around the clock care. But look at the joy and life in that face of his! He is soooo loved. Because of the instability and destruction of official records (like birth certificates) in Haiti due to the disastrous earthquake in 2010, Jonas’ adoption was finalized in Indiana. Despite the Hubley’s trying for years, Jonas still does not have a social security number and therefore no access to state or federal funding for developmentally disabled children. That means that the Hubley family has been bearing 100% of the financial responsibility for all of his care without even the ability to claim him on their taxes. Care, transportation, medical supplies and respite all come out of their pocket.

In addition to the financial stress, now they are facing an unbelievable situation. Jonas faces potential deportation because his case file (which includes all the proper documentation that is available) was reviewed in a cursory manner by USCIS officials. The Hubleys could use help with day to day expenses and potential immigration attorney fees.
