Help for The Humph

Hey, all. Collins family here, asking for help, love and happy thoughts.

Our derpy little gentleman, or buddy, our Humphers is in the hospital.

To know Humphrey is to love him - with his big satellite dish ears, his goofy grin, and his beautiful brindle coat - he's one of those dogs that strangers can't walk past without saying hello. He's the happiest, friendliest, goodest of all boys, and we're lucky to call him our best friend.

We woke up this past weekend to a scary scene of Humph vomiting puddles of blood. We rushed him to the emergency vet and they've been running tests on him for 3 days to figure out what's going on. His belly has been filling up with fluid despite being severely dehydrated, and they just determined he'll need emergency surgery on his small intestine today.

On top of that, they found that Humph has a small tumor on his heart, and is in the early stages of heart failure. This finding was completely unrelated to the belly issue, but we're grateful we found it so early. With medication and treatment, he should still be able to live a long and happy life.

We're doing all we can to make sure our buddy is getting the care he needs, but it's maxed out our cards and wiped out the little savings we had. Like so many, our bank accounts have been hit hard during this pandemic: 18 months of unemployment, a new baby and huge hospital bills, and now this. We know how hard it is out there, and we hate to ask for help knowing that there are so many people struggling. If anyone is in the position to help towards Humphrey's vet bills, we'd appreciate it more than we could explain.
