Help Support the McKay Family
On June 15th, a tragic incident occurred at Langford Lake involving 17-year-old Dequan McKay (birth name Keron). While swimming with friends, Dequan was rescued after a drowning incident and given CPR for 28 minutes. Despite the heroic efforts of the rescuers, first responders, friends, and medical staff, Dequan was placed on life support and sadly passed away surrounded in love by his family on June 19th.
Phillip McKay, a dedicated single father to four other children here in Canada, is now facing immense emotional and financial challenges. Dequan will be deeply missed by his family, especially his dear and loving siblings Shantay, Bianca, Jadon, and Philan. He made an indelible impression on their lives and countless others, and their family unit will never be the same without him.
Dequan, who attended both Stelly's and Belmont High School, was loved by so many friends at both schools. He was a kind-hearted and gregarious young man who enjoyed spending time with friends, working out, and making people laugh.
Your support can help them navigate this difficult time. Any contribution, no matter how small, will be greatly appreciated.
Thank you for your kindness and generosity.
