Help For The Melzer Family

On February 10th, 2023, James was taken to the emergency room with acute pain on his lower right side. After a chest x-ray, CT scan, and an echocardiogram, it was discovered that he had suffered a devastating pulmonary embolism in his right lung severely impacting his ability to breathe. He was released from the hospital to the care of his primary doctor for a follow-up, where it was revealed to him that the embolism he suffered was much worse than thought. Due to the severity of the injury he has been relieved of his work duties for the foreseeable future, must undergo a battery of tests to determine what his quality of life will be like going forward, endure physical therapy, and has been placed on medications to help him during his recovery which is going to be a long, slow, process.

Because of his inability to work for the time being, the Melzer family is asking for help from friends and family to get through the next 3-4 months. They need help with mortgage payments, bills, and food. James' wife, Jennifer, does work a part-time job, but it just isn't enough to cover the growing expenses they face during this time of adversity. While James is looking into programs like disability, the government wheels turn slow, and the medical tests he has to endure are still a month to two months away, so it will take a while to submit the proper paperwork to get everything moving.
