Help for the Merz Family

On Sept. 6, Paul was driving home on his motorcycle from the gym. A girl was driving and texting and cut Paul off in traffic right in front of a red light. Paul didn't have enough time to stop and had to lay his bike down, which inevitably was on top of him. The girl took off once the light turned green and left Paul lying under his bike. Paul ended up with a fractured tibia, which required surgery and having a plate put into his leg.

This injury for some would be easy to recover from and not be too big of a burden. For Paul, it was life-changing. Paul is self-employed and has to be able to get around really easily. He owns a pet care business where he helps pet owners when they go out of town, or takes care of the animals during the day while they are at work, which often means, walking pups. As you can imagine, having this injury makes a lot of his job pretty much impossible.

The insurance claim for the accident was denied because there was no police report filed due to the girl leaving the scene of the accident. Bills have started to pile up putting a huge strain on Paul and his wife, who are two of the most caring, loving people -- as you can imagine any pet lover would be. Paul and Heather would give the shirt off their back to anyone if they could.

As we head into the season of giving, we wanted to help these two out. We hope you all can find it in your hearts to help as well.
