Help for the Summerlin family

Hi, my name is Courtney Summerlin . I am Jeremy’s wife. Jeremy has a disease called Neurofibromatosis where benign tumors form inside the body on nerve endings - unfortunately some of these tumors have started to grow rapidly which have put severe compression on his spine. Jeremy started a new career but hadn’t made it to his 60 days to receive insurance from his new job, and I am a stay at home mom with our 4 year old daughter…with this disease it hit hard, and fast. Over the course of a 2 week timespan he went from lower back pain and in the Emergency room at Newnan hospital every day to complete paralysis. He was admitted into Piedmont Atlanta where they did an MRI and the surgeon called me saying they were doing emergency surgery. He was cut open from his neck to the bottom of his spine, they found there was a blood clot from the base of his neck that was about 10-12” big. They drilled multiple holes down his spine and added drain tubes to drain out any fluid as well as the blood clot. They also shaved off and removed a portion of his spine to alleviate compression from the tumors. He is slowly regaining some feeling in his toes and upper body and is fighting so hard! He will be ICU until he is medically stable and then will be transferred to the Neuro floor and from there when he is released, he will either go to Shepherd Spinal or an inpatient rehabilitation.
