Help for vulnerable immigrant family
My name is Kelly and I am writing this description for my family.
I am from a family of three, legal immigrants who have gone through the legal process of the immigration system. My mother has done her best to provide for me and my brother our whole lives, despite only managing on minimum wage the entire time and as a single parent.
However our problem began when our last leave to remain ended in March 2019 ; the thought of raising £8,000+ for our indefinite leave to remain, was impossible for my family considering my mother was already in debt. We managed to resolve the situation, barely at that, we are still waiting for a response from the home office for our leave to remain application since then. In October 2019, my mother’s employment was terminated due to home office restrictions, losing our only stable income and was told she was not entitled to public funds anymore. This meant we couldn’t ask for housing benefits which would’ve helped with rent or universal credit which would’ve helped with the other bills.
Since October, we have been struggling endlessly just to pay our bills, but rent and council tax have been piling up tremendously and my mother simply can not pay them. Our biggest fear is us losing our home of nearly 9 years now.
It has taken a massive toll on all of us. Please any donations would be really be appreciated at this hard time.
