Fr. John, an Orthodox priest serving in ROCOR Canada, has recently been assigned rector of the Nativity of St John Mission Parish in Grande Prairie, Alberta after visiting the parish to serve the Palm Sunday, Holy Week, and Pascha services. Fr. John has been serving as an assistant priest in Windsor, Ontario, where he lives with his wife, Matushka Maria, and his elderly in-laws. Fr. John and Matushka Maria are currently expecting their first child.

With the blessing of Gabriel, Archbishop of Montreal and Canada, Fr. John and his family are requesting financial help to move and purchase a home in Grande Prairie, Alberta. The basement of their home will serve as the Church building for the parish. The mission parish currently does not have a permanent home and has been using rented office space and a hall for its services.

Your financial aid is needed to help with the following expenses:

Down payment on a home, the basement of which will serve as the parish's Church
Moving costs for Fr. John, his Matushka, and his in-laws from Windsor, ON to Grande Prairie, AB, including travel expenses and shipping furniture
Liturgical supplies for the parish

About the parish

Established three years ago, the Nativity of St John (originally Holy Trinity), is a mission parish in Grande Prairie, Alberta, founded by converts. The growing parish is attended by young families both in the Grande Prairie region and surrounding towns, with parishioners travelling 4+ hours for services. The parish is currently visited by a priest roughly every two-three months and regularly meets for the typika service without a priest. Fr. John's visit was the first time Pascha was served at the parish. The parish is excited to finally have a rector.
